Diana Reyes Flamenco Artist

Diana Reyes studied flamenco dance in Madrid. Diana then had a successful career touring Spain and other European countries with various flamenco companies. Artists with whom Diana has danced include, La Tolea, El Ye-Ye de Cadiz, Paco Cruz, Felipe Maya, Jesus El Almendro, Luis de Luis, Jose Luis Monton, Joaquin Ruiz and Eva Duran.

Diana also performed on numerous occasions in Madrid in the specialist flamenco venues, known as tablao flamenco. The venues in which Diana performed, include Los Canasteros, Las Brujas and El Corral de la Pacheca.

After gaining a level of professional flamenco standing in Spain, Diana returned to Australia to continue her career. Twelve years ago, Diana formed her own company, Diana Reyes Flamenco, to promote and develop flamenco in Australia. Diana’s aim, quite simply, was to create a company here in Australia which is equal to the best in Spain.

Both the Australia Council and the NSW Ministry of the Arts have supported Diana over the past twelve years and this has allowed her to present many successful seasons of flamenco throughout Australia. Diana is the only flamenco artist in Australia to enjoy this continuous support.

Diana is often in demand as a choreographer for other dance companies. Her reputation as Australia's foremost female flamenco choreographer parallels the acclaim and recognition that she enjoys as this country's foremost female flamenco performer.

Over the past years, Diana has brought out many flamenco artists to perform with her company, Diana Reyes Flamenco. Diana passes on her passion for the art of flamenco to her students at her Flamenco Studio, in the Sydney suburb of Newtown. Through her Flamenco Studio workshops, conducted both in her Newtown Studio and around Australia, Diana promotes the art of flamenco in its purest and highest form. In addition, Diana continues to dance and choreograph for Diana Reyes Flamenco.
